Henrik Ibsen’s last words are also used in the title of a new comprehensive exhibit featuring Ibsen’s life and work. In the exhibit, his life, his writing and the time in which he lived merges. The exhibit also illustrates how relevant his issues still are in today’s society. As Ibsen himself, the exhibit intends to pose questions and inspire the viewer to reflect on ones own situation in life as well as the state of the world. The themes cover Ibsen’s personal life, his life as a playwright, and his impact the contemporary issues and current affairs.

Henrik Ibsen’s home

The apartment will have the playwright’s own furniture as well as the original fixtures, décor and colors. While Ibsen internationally is celebrated as a playwright and his dramas are being performed worldwide, a visit to his apartment takes us backstage and introduces us to his private life. The visitor will be introduced to Suzannah and Henrik Ibsen’s private sphere and can see their private belongings. The apartment tells a personal story about the private life of an aging Ibsen. His library, dining room and bedroom are open to the public, as well as his study where he wrote his two last plays.
